Unemployment numbers from the state indicate the unemployment rate in October dropped in 26 counties, increased in 33 counties and stayed the same in 36 counties.
Warren County’s rate increased by eight tenths of a percentage point from 4.1 percent in September to 4.9 percent in October. A year ago the rate was 3.7 percent.
White County’s unemployment rate was 3.9 percent, which was unchanged from the previous month. The rate a year ago was 3.3 percent.
Van Buren County’s unemployment went from 5.2 to 5.0 percent. Coffee County went from 3.8 to 3.7 percent. DeKalb County went from 4.5 to 4.8 percent. Grundy County went from 5.2 to 4.7 percent. Cannon County was unchanged at 3.5 percent.
Williamson County had the state’s lowest unemployment at 2.7 percent, while Lauderdale County had the highest at 6.8 percent.
