Tennessee is providing resources to help residents who want quit smoking during the Great American Smokeout .
The annual event takes place Nov. 15, but Tennessee’s resources are available year-round. They include the Tennessee Tobacco QuitLine that offers free counseling and information. That line can be reached at 1-800-QUIT-NOW.
A Tennessee Department of Health release says about 1.5 million Tennesseans smoke cigarettes. And tobacco use is the single largest preventable cause of death and disease in the world.
Services provided through Tennessee’s QuitLine are free and confidential. Information is available in both Spanish and English.
