Bridge Repair At Sparta St. Underpass Delayed

The plan to replace the existing railway bridge at the Sparta St. underpass has been delayed. According to Kevin Walker of CSR Engineering he told City Administrator Nolan Ming that MES would not shut the line down over the bridge until we have a number of 50 degree days. Construction has been rescheduled near the end of March or early April. Work is expected to take 2 weeks.
One benefit of the project is the clearance will increase from 13’11 to 15′ 0 3/4 inches and will be open to all commercial traffic. The extra clearance will be achieved by removing the existing concrete and replacing with thinner beams. The width clearance wil lremain the same.
