The Central Baptist Association on Thursday will be giving out toys to needy families and kids. In October the Warren Co. Rescue Squad turned it over to them after 60 years. Rescue Squad Chief Chad Hillis said with a lot of members getting older, and with the passing of longtime chief Fred Hillis, they felt it was time to let someone else take over and help the kids in Warren Co.
Jim Ramsey with the Central Baptist Association said that around 160 families and approximately 400 kids will be having a merry Christmas in 2021. Ramsey said each family was issued a pink slip with the child’s number on it and must bring it to Community Baptist Church at 461 Friendship Dr. in Rock Island to receive the toys.
Ramsey said the community response has been outstanding. Students from Warren Co. High School will be available to assist in handing out gifts.
