Sheltering, Tethering Ordinance Passes

The Warren Co. Board of Commissioners Monday night passed both resolutions of the sheltering and tethering of dogs in Warren Co. It pertains to all areas except in the city.
There was a change in the resolution introduced decreasing the weight of the chain to 10 percent. It was 20 percent when presented to the board in October. State law says a dog cannot be tethered under the age of 6 months. Wilcher said another change makes it where a dog cannot be tethered for more than 10 hours without adequate shelter, which includes an enclosed house with three sides and a roof and floor. If the requirements are not met, the owner can be fined.
It passed the committee 4-0 and the board passed it 19-4.
In other business, Road Superintendent recognized the family of longtime employee Jimmy Beechum, who passed away last month, with a plaque. Yvonne McGinness was recognized as Employee of The Month. She works at the Warren Co. Sheriffs Department.
