Local Legend To Be Honored By Tourism

The Tennessee Dept. Of Tourism’s new tourism initiative, Music Pathways, has announced their first addition and it’s right here in Warren Co. honoring the late Dottie West. The marker for the local legnd will be dedicated on Monday, October 11 at 3:30pm, at the front steps of the Chamber of Commerce on South Court Square.
The TDB will host the ceremony with representatives from the Tennessee Department of Tourism in attendance.
After the dedication, those interested will gather at Mt. View Cemetery and place a wreath on the grave of Miss Country Sunshine in honor of her on what would have been her 89th birthday. The country music legend died in a tragic car accident in 1991 and is buried beside her mother and other family members. She has now been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Music Pathways is an integrated, driving trail linking our state’s history to the seven genres of distinct American music.
