The Fort Sill National Bank, located inside the Walmart supercenter, sustained some water and smoke damage Wednesday evening.
According to Fire Chief Kendall Mayfield of the McMinnville fire Dept., a construction contractor was doing repair on a wall inside the Fort Sill Bank where the ATM is and was using a heat gun to spped the process of the wall. The contractor stated he laid the heat gun on top of a ladder and left the room. When he returnedwater from a sprinkler system in the closet area and the tip top of his heat gun was melted. Fire personnel checked for the fire and stopped the sprinkler system to reduce water.Walmart employees and patrons were evacuated but there were no injuries. Mayfield added that he bank sustained around 2,000 dollars in water and smoke damage.
Despite the incident Fort Sill National Bank is open with business as usual.
