A man who led police on a high speed chase thru Cannon and Warren Co. Tuesday morning has been identified.
49 year old Daniel Smithson of Cannon Co. was taken into custody in Morrison at a residence on Ball Park Road. According to Chief Deputy Jordan McGee of the Cannon Co. Sheriffs Department officers arrived at Smthson’s residence in the Woodland Community around 8:30am to serve warrants from Coffee Co. He ran out of a back door, jumped in his white Chevy pickup truck, backed out of his garage and took off through a field at a high rate of speed. Smithson led authorities through several roads in Cannon and Warren Co. He was on Highway 287 coming into Morrison when he turned on Ball Park Road and became stuck. He took off on foot and was apprehended 50 feet from his truck and taken into custody.
Smithson is charged with aggravated assault, two counts of reckless endangerment, felony evading arrest, reckless driving, possession of a firearm by convicted felon and resisting arrest. He’s being held in the Cannon Co. Jail on bond. He will appear in court on Monday.
