The Warren Co. Board of Education Monday night voted unanimously to give all regular full time and part time employees a 750 bonus. The money will appear in either the April or May paychecks. The bonuses will come from federal ESSER funding.
In other business, Director of Schools Grant Swallows gave an update on the proposed Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement, or TISA, student based formula. He said the new plan appears to have more funding for students, but how it will look for Warren Co. they aare working to get a better understanding over the few weeks. The new formula is broken down by a base funding amount, weights to address students needs, direct funding and outcome incentives. Swallows gave an example of Warren Co. possibly having 6,860 in base level funding. With some 6,080 students Warren Co. could receive over 41.7 million. That figures does not include percentages for economic disadvantaged and sparcity weights. Swallows anticipates that, in this election year, the legislation will move quickly with a lot of support behind it. If the bill passes the new TISA structure would not be effective until the 2023-2024 school year.
Also at the board meeting Kathy Ewton was named the Certified Employee of the Month while Barbara Sander was named the Classified Employee of the Month.
