City Passes First Reading To Lower Speed Limit

The McMinnville Board of Mayor and Alderman Tuesday night passed on first reading an ordinance to lower the speed limit on Post Road from 30 miles per hour to 20. Chief Nichole Mosley told the board that they will do all they can to enforce it. It will come up for second and final reading at their next meeting on March 8. They also passes two ordinances concerning the official zoning code and passed an ordinance changing the zoning classification at 2459 Smithville Highway from I-1 Light Industrial to C-2 General Commercial.
In other business, the board filled three positions on the Historic Zoning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals. Tom Ward, who was chairman for both committees, has resigned. Michael Griffith was named the interim chairman. Also resigning was Bobby Kirby. The board appointed Dan Sellars and Ben Myers for the zoning commission and Emily Stefanek was named to the Board of Zoning Appeals.
They also approved for the Relay For Life event to be held in downtown McMinnville for 2022. It will place June 4. They also approved County Commissioner Blaine Wilcher’s request to have the Cruise-In Car Shows for Kids that will be held the first Saturday form April-October at the Farmers Market from 5pm-8pm each time. The first event will be April 2.
