The Warren Co. Lady Pioneers closed their regular season Monday night with a 57-43 victory over Franklin Co. at Charlie Dalton Gym. Shelby Smartt led the way with 18 points. Kyra Perkins had 13. The Lady Pioneers finished 22-6 on the season and 6-3 in the district, which gives them the number 2 seed in the district tournament next week that will be played in Shelbyville. Warren Co. will face either Franklin Co. or Shelbyville in h semi-finals. Those two teams will decide 3rd place Thursday night. Warren Co.’s 22 wins are the most since the 1998 season.
In the boys contest the Pioneers dropped a heartbreaker to Franklin Co. 44-43. Pioneers were led by Eli Kuykendall and Isaiah Cummings with 10 points each. The pioneers are 10-15 on the season and finish 2-7 in district play, good for 3rd place. The Pioneers will close the season at home with a makeup game at home against Upperman Thursday night. They will face Coffee Co. in the semi-finals of the district tournament next week in Shelbyville at a time to be announced later.
