Monday AM Snow Keeps Utility Workers Busy

Warren Co. residents woke up early Monday morning to 5-6 inches of snow in the area. Forecasters had only predicted between 2-3 inches. Just this past Saturday we were enjoying temperatures near 80 degrees. The snow also left many residents without power.
According tp Road Superintendent Levie Glenn crews started around 2:30am Monday trying to clear much of the main and secondary roads. With it being a wet, packing snow and temperatures just below freezing crews were able to start clearing. Glenn said they’ve also been clearing trees and broken limbs and branches that had blocked a lane or making it also impassable. He added that crews will continue working hard to keep roads clear. With temperatures in the upper teen’s for Tuesday morning be aware of the possibility of black ice when traveling. Glenn concluded that if yo don’t have to be on the road the best bet is to stay home.
Utilities crews have been working since the early Monday morning hours getting power restored. According to Caney Fork CEO Bill Rogers, residents started experiencing outages at 1am. They include Morrison, Viola, Rock Island, Irving Colelge, Northcutt’s Cove Road, Frances Ferry and Bluff Springs Road. Rogers said a combination of heavy wet snow along with fallen trees and limbs on lines kept residents in the dark, some for a majority of the day. Crews in White, Van Buren and Dekalb have also been working their areas since the early morning. Rogers added that most should have power restored to their areas.
