Tuesday night the McMinnville Board of Mayor and Alderman voted to enter into negotiations with Investment Partners LLC to purchase the Blue Building property. Three alderman, Everett Brock, Sally Brock and Steve Harvey along with Mayor Chastain voted with Alderman Rachel Kirby abstaining from the vote saying it was the right thing to do because of her relationship and interest in the property. Alderman Zac Sutton and Alderman Stacey Harvey were not in attendance.
Investment Partners LLC, which includes Bobby Kirby, Jewel Hale and Kirby’s son, Lake Kirby, plan calls for Condos to be put in the blue building. The condos will be sold and not rented. In negotiations they will be seeking a TIF, or tax increment funding, for 20 years.
The Blue Building has an appraisal value of 622,400 dollars and has been vacant since late 2009.
In other business, the board passed a resolution to accept a bid from Portland Utilities Construction in the amount of 1,189,135 dollars. They will be replacing about 6,000 feet of sewer pipe along Sunnyside Heights to Mullican St.
