Commission Considers Sheltering, Tethering Monday Night

The full Warren Co. Commission will meet Monday night Nov. 15 at 6:30pm at the administrative building. One of the items that will be brought back to the board is the sheltering and tethering of dogs. Last month both did not receive a majority vote. In fact it failed 12-10.
Committee Chairman Blaine Wilchertold us that the Health and Welfare Committee met last week and there’s one change to the ordinance, decreasing he weight of the chain to 10 percent. It was 20 percent when presented to the board in October. State law says a dog cannot be tethered under the age of 6 months. Wilcher said another change makes it where a dog cannot be tethered for more than 10 hours without adequate shelter, which includes an enclosed house with three sides and a roof and floor. If the requirements are not met, the owner can be fined.
