City Board To Conduct Storm Water Study

At Tuesday night’s meeting one of the main topics not on the agenda was the flooding in some areas of the city that has rendered damage to business and property owners, particularly the North Chancery/Peers St. area. Last week Warren Co. received anywhere from 5 to 6 inches of rain. Flooding has been an ongoing problem and Alderman Everett Brock asked the board for the next meeting for money from the American Rescue Plan to do a storm water study in the most flood prone areas. Money used will be to check drains and finding solutions.
In other news, the board approved the resolution to name soccer field number 5 at Pistole Park the James "Big Jim" Barnes field.
In committee news, Chief Nichole Mosley asked the safety committee for approval of 20 Axon Body Cameras for the police officers at a cost of just over 21,500 dollars. It would be a 5 year deal with Axon replacing cameras every 2 1/2 years. It passed unanimously. Streets and Sanitation approved purchase of a John Deere mower from Trigreen Euipment and also a compact excavator.
