Director of Schools Grant Swallows gave an update as far as test scores for the 2020-2021 school year. According to the Tenn. Education website, Warren Co. received a grade of H, which means that the district was held harmless. Swallows recognized Centertown, Dibrell and Bobby Ray Elementary were recognized for being named Level 5 schools.
Federal Programs Director Vickie Dodd gave an update on the ESSER 3.0 Application Approval. She showed the 4 plans for approval. They include safe return to in-person instruction, needs assessment, communication engagement checklist and federal relief spending plan. All plans must meet state approval to receive the money. Funds include 18.9 million and must be spent by September 2024. Warren Co. still have til Sept. 2023 to use 7.3 million from the ESSER 2.0 funding.
In other business, the board unanimously chose Tommy Culwell as the new School Board chairman for the 2021-2022 year. Sue Anderson was chosen Vice-Chairperson. Swallows recognized outgoing chairperson Tanya Bess for her outstanding work with a plaque. Also Chelsey Crisp was named Classified Employee of the Month and Rex Crabtree was named Certified Employee of the Month. Crabtree, who is in his first year as principal for Eastside, and Crisp were recognized for going abover and beyond in their job duties.
