State Resumes Payments to Clinics

Tennessee has resumed extra payments to rural health clinics after TennCare froze them for more than a year.
According to The Tennessean , a memo from TennCare announcing the reversal says TennCare recognizes that the time it has taken on new payment rules has had a financial impact.
The moratorium was supposed to last six months, but was extended twice.
TennCare has said the moratorium was necessary to create new billing rules for the state’s approximately 150 rural clinics.
About 20 new Tennessee rural health clinics opened in the past year and a half and learned the payments wouldn’t be coming while new rules were in the works.
Rural health care clinic adviser Mark Lynn of Chattanooga said it’s "basically survival" for clinics that have been waiting for the reimbursement.
