An elderly man was injured Wednesday morning when his car jumped a curb and damaged a bench and City Hall.
According to Police Chief Bryan Denton police received a call around 5:45am Wednesday morning and found a 1999 Ford F-150, driven by 74 year old Robert Harris, with extensive damage after crashing into a downtown bench and causing minimal damage to the exterior of City Hall. Harris told officers that his gas pedal stuck when he put the truck in reverse and could not brake in time before colliding with the bench and sending it to the lower corner of City Hall structure. Harris was injured and transported to River Park to receive treatment for his injuries. Denton added that amount of damage to the bench and exterior were not available.
