The McMinnville Board of Mayor and Alderman Wednesday night approved a lease agreement with Pinnacle Properties LLC of Kentucky, the owners of Three Star Mall, to be a temporary facility while the Civic Center undergoes a 9.2 million dollar expansion. Once occupied the city will pay 4,689 dollars a month in rent to the mall. Mall officials estimates that it could be mid-January that the Civic Center will occupy some of the spaces at the mall.
The expansion will include two new additions plus upgrades. Since consideration for an indoor pool did not garner enough signatures Mayor Newman moved to approve the contract as is and move forward.
In other city board news, the board approved a resolution to accept a bid from Ford of Murfreesboro for Police Interceptor Utility Vehicles. The original bid was for three but was amended when Chief Bryan Denton was able to procure 2 more IUV’s for the same price as the original three before the price increase took effect in 2019. The 5 vehicles was approved with an amended price from 91,197 to 151,995 dollars.
Alderman Steve Harvey announced the annual Christmas concert called Hark at the Park will take place Dec. 20 at 7pm at the Park Theater. Many local musicians and songwriters will perform that night. Harvey added there will be a special surprise. Tickets are available at the Park Theater and the Magness Library. Doors open at 6pm. Proceeds benefit the Hamilton St. Activity Center and the Magness Library.
Because of Christmas falling on the 4th Tuesday the regular city board meeting was cancelled. The next meeting will be Jan. 8, 2019.
